{Shabby Chic} Side Table

Here is the side table project I did for my guest post over at Lemon Tree Creations. I forgot about posting it here too! Here you go.

I finally decided that I had this little side table sitting around for far to long in it's old ugly original form for way to long (bought at a local thrift store for $10 about 2 or 3 years ago). It was doing nothing for my daughters room with the way to dark color on it.
But, I loved the detail on it!

After:

Before:

I tried to sand it down a bit but I think it has veneer on it. The legs sanded pretty good though.

Then I used Krylon White Primer Spray Paint.
Couple coats of that.

Then Krylon Satin Ballet Slipper pink for the top coat.

This is when it was done with Spray paint, before any stencil or distressing.

Bought the Stencil at Hobby Lobby. I just used a white craft paint and just dabbed, rather than brushed.
I just wanted it in the two opposite corners from each other.

It turned out a little sloppy even though I 'dabbed' the foam brush. But I sanded it down a little.

THEN, I got out the little hand sander and went to work distressing it! That is the funnest part.

Ok, So I put this picture in because even though the table is so pretty out on the green lawn with cute flowers on it, the reality is that is will go in my daughters room to be used for who knows what. To have plastic kitchen food line up on it, All the farm animals from the Little People set corralled there, Stacks of books piled on top. So I'm just keepin' it real for you and just threw in the naked baby for kicks!
I hope you feel inspired to check out your local thrift stores and yard sales, and when you look at a piece think to yourself if you would like it if it had another color on it?!

Thanks to Erin for letting me guest post here at Lemon Tree Creations!
What a beautiful and inspiring blog!

I sure hope you will all come over and check me out at First Lady of the House.
Ciao!

Laundry List

First off:
The Pinterest Linky Party was a good idea, but there really wasn't any 'reward' in it for people to link to the party. Therefore I will discontinue the link party :(

But thanks to all who pinned the last couple weeks!

Second:
I would love to start having some Guest Bloggers if any one is interested.
Please contact me via my email if you would like to do a post.
camillastarks (at) gmail (dot) com

Third:
We've had a crazy week here in my neighborhood because there is an Extreme Makeover: Home Edition home being built right around the corner. The house is so close to our house that our street is closed to everyone except local traffic and a few of my neighbors are bordering the 'construction site.' I got to volunteer with painting inside the house last night, and tomorrow they are revealing the house to the family!
(the episode won't air until October)

Fourth:
My life has felt like a tornado lately.
Bare with me as I try to get myself back on track and my house in order.
But, I did get to see my cute baby's 1 year pictures that I had done at Lou Lou Photography a couple weeks ago and they are SO precious!
Just a little peeky-poo.

Basement Bathroom

Here is what my basement bathroom currently looks like:
It's actually kinda beautiful in a weird way because you know what that picture means??
I get to do exactly what I want to do to it!

Here are some of my bathroom inspiration pin's I've gathered. Tell me what you think?

I am having a Chevron pattern put in for my tile work, not this big of a contrast but still noticeable.

Bead Board going against the left wall. I even kind of like this color, I don't know though.

I want this cabinet. Love the legs!

Great storage for above the toilet.

I LOVE this Anthropologie Shower Curtain, but obviously would need to be the colors of the bathroom.

Go check out the rest of my "Bathrooms" Pin board and you can see the other Tile options I was looking at, some prints I found that would be great hung up, and other decor options and ideas. What have you done with those dark basement bathrooms you guys have?

Rainbow Salsa

I made what I called "Rainbow Salsa" a week ago.

I had everything on hand to make salsa and we were going out of town so I wanted to use up all those veggies that would have gone bad.

I had Green, Red, Orange & Yellow Peppers
I had Yellow Tomatoes (and one Red)
I had Purple Onion
& Cilantro

I just use my food processor to blend it up chunky.

p.s. Yellow Tomatoes taste exactly like red ones.
But I hear they are more expensive. I had not bought these, they were given to me.

Shabby Chic Lamp

One day I was in Hobby Lobby (one of my weekly trips) and I saw this pre-sewn ruffles in the fabric section. I was exited but didn't know what to do with it so I just stored it away in my head that they had them available there.

Later that week I knew EXACTLY what I wanted to do with them.

I had this lamp base that my mom had given me quite a while ago that was just hanging out in my basement. So I decided I wanted to cover a lampshade in the ruffles and refinish the base and put it in my daughters room.

Black/Brown Lamp Base
Sprayed with Krylon White Primer and then Krylon Glossy White
Bought a Drum Shade from Target, Ruffles and Ball Trim from Hob Lob.

Started at the top and hot glued all the way around the shade working down.
Hot Glued the trim inside the shade at the bottom

I love all the texture of this lamp.
It's cute in my daughters room!
