Vacay & an Award!

I was in St. George, UT this weekend on a little family vacation. We had such a good time.
We ate at the best Mexican Restaurant, Los Palmeras (sp?). It was kind of a hole in the wall, plus if you are going for nice atmosphere, this is not your place, BUT if you seriously do want the best mexican food this is it. The best I've had in UT! I've lived a couple miles away from the Mexican border, and this is the best Mexican food I've eaten since that time.

Also, The Bear Paw is such a good breakfast spot to eat, but be prepared to wait a while to get seated and once seated it will be awhile until you get your food. But MAN! the food is very good. French toast to DIE for!! Bring snacks and things to keep the kids busy until the food arrives.

Delish!

And if you LOVE card games you have to try Wizard! We always play Wizard with my sister and her husband (they introduced us to the game) and it's SO fun. You have to have a Wizard Deck though.

Heather over at What It's All About gave me the Versatile Blogger award.

So, here are the rules:

- Thank the person who gave you the award!

Cosmic Shopping Week #1

I wanted to start a post once a week where I share some of the great deals I find that week. I mean who doesn't go home and call their mom or sister or BFF and tell them about the PERFECT fitting Sweater on the sale rack for $2.00??? I call that "Cosmic Shopping" Like everything in the universe has lined up perfectly for you to buy that One item!!

So...Here are my great finds for the week!

Look at these Beauties! Clearance Rack at Target @ $5

DI (Local Thrift Store) 75 cents - Milk Glass Vase
I Love Hounds Tooth more and more all the time. Clearance rack at Target @ $2
It's a hard shelled mini wallet

Small Urn - DI @ 75 cents (this had a huge bouquet of ugly silk roses in it, the roses were hanging over the urn so bad you could barely even see the urn) the urn is only about 7 or 8 inches tall.
This was the only one of this dress on the Target childrens clearance stuff. It HAPPENED to be a 2T and fit my daughter perfectly $7
I love the embellishment on top and the layered tulle around the hem.

And Just because: I gave a baby shower for a friend of mine on Saturday and here are a couple pictures of the flowers...They made my week sitting in my kitchen.

I love tree blossoms...I have a whole vase of these puppies blooming on my table

Yellow Rosette Dwell Pillow from Target

I have seen this pillow everywhere!
Dwell Studio at Target
I Create It gives you a tutorial on how to make your OWN

And here's mine:
Please try not to look anywhere but the bed...HEY, I said don't look anywhere but the bed.
My Master Bedroom has been tossed to the wayside for over 3 years now. It is the very last priority on my list of things to do.
Don't look at the hand-me-down lamps from when were were first married.
Don't look at the crooked picture on the left wall.

Don't notice the Two baby monitors on the right hand side.
You would be horrified if I panned Right or Left and Mortified if you saw behind me.
SO...Just look at my gorgeous bed (V-day gift from two years ago) and the pretty bedding I recently purchased at Target. I was going to hold out for a beautiful quilt from The Quilt Shop but hey $70 verses $300-400 was a no brainer, and hey...I was sick of just a sheet and blanket on my bed for the past 3 1/2 years.

Crib Toy/Book Holder

My 2 year olds crib has at least 4 'babies' in it at all times, a binkie, at least 1 sippy cup, and at least 4 or 5 books. Not to mention a pillow and several blankets... Then add an almost 3 year old into the mix and it becomes fairly crowded in there. I need TWO of these things for her crib and I would be in good shape.

Craftiness Is Not Optional has the Full Tutorial to show you all how to make this beauty!

Cookbook Heaven!

I've mentioned a time or two about Our Best Bites, my favorite foodie blog! Well, the girls over there just put out their first book (came out this week). I was at Costco last night and I was just walking by and BAM! the book was calling me from across the aisle!!
I ran over there like if I didn't pick one of those books up Right. Then. All of them were going to disappear. I'm sure people were looking at me funny because I got a big grin on my face as I held my book in my hands.

I'm so excited to try out all the recipes. I use their blog several times a week for recipes...case in point, it's SAturday morning and I have already used the O.B.B blog to cook something this morning! NOW I have the Book :)

Ok, enough rambling...Just go out and buy it!

{ It's even in a spiral cover so you can have it open with out putting big cans of beans on it to keep it open }

Butterfly Specimen Art

A couple weeks ago I made this Butterfly Species art thing! I don't know what the heck to call it!

I borrowed a butterfly punch from a friend and punch a bunch of cute paper that matched the colors I want to be in my daughters room.

I mounted them on a piece of white card stock and then put it in a frame (I took out the glass, so the wings would stand out.) I just used a glue dot in the middle of each butterfly and stuck it on the paper. I hadn't predetermined where I was going to put them I measured to the middle of the paper and went off of that. I think next time I would have it all marked out with a dot in each spot I wanted a butterfly.

I had seen this idea a while ago cruising through blogland, but I looked and looked to find it again to give credit for seeing the idea but couldn't find it. If you happen to know where it's come from let me know!

***Ok, Yes, I think I originally saw this over at The Idea Room, If I had remembered where I had seen it before I made mine I would have done some things different. I love that her picture is matted. I love that she has twice as many butterflies as I do. So I really like hers!***

I'm going to link up at:

Spring Centerpieces

Time for some fun centerpieces now that it's almost spring time!
I tried to find natural looking stuff, but wanted to stay away from fresh flower stuff because...come on, let's be honest, NO ONE has $ to keep buying fresh flowers to keep up a cute centerpiece.

Terrarium, not much up keep.

Lemon Tree (fake of course, I saw this in a friends home, it was very cute)

Anything moss covered.

I think this is so simple and cute! And Gerber Daisy's come in every color under the sun.

I LOVE anything to do with cherries, cherry blossoms, etc.
I know that this centerpiece looks like it's for a wedding/party, but I LOVE it so much.
I love the square vase inside the square wreath!!

Valentine's Day

Because I couldn't post about what I had planned for Valentines Day because I thought my husband might see I'm now sharing our day we had!

My gift to myself was having some of my house cleaned! You know...the things I REALLY hate...bathrooms and floors!

I made a super yummy dinner: Steaks, Ceasar Salad, Corn & Black bean Salsa & Chips, Twice baked Potatoes! Then Harmons had Chocolate dipped Strawberries...so I got a few of those. I don't have any pictures of this because it was serious madness when I was making dinner (husband got home, revealing gifts, 2 seriously poopy diapers, doorbell ringing, kids crying, I was just trying to survive in that hour or so).

 Beautiful flowers from my Valentine

 My Hubby loves Peanut M&M's
 Mylar Balloons for the Kidlets
A Valentine Bucket full of goodies from a very nice neighbor for my 2 year old

This one I have been planning! I'm sneaky! My husband, FOR YEARS, has been asking me to put up old family pictures on this wall, and I kept shrugging it off. SO I knew this was the holiday I was going to get it done and surprise him with the finished product. This wall was empty, except the middle wedding picture. I had the Vinyl made a couple days ago and then go all the frames and pictures put together and hung up while my hubby was at work. I think it turned out SO nice. The blank pictures are for my kids pictures, plus we need to put a few others up as well.

Close up of our wedding picture. Awww!

AND...TaDa! The new iPhone 4! We really wanted to get these because there is an app called Face Time.
So you BOTH get to see each other while talking! My Husband has been so busy lately and has not had a lot of time to spend with the kids. So we thought this would be so nice to get so that the kids can still talk and SEE him during the day. (kinda like Skype, I guess).

We put the kids to bed early so I could have extra "me" time and just watch TV, Read a book, or whatever!

Happy Valentines Day!
